BEYOND THE MIDDLE EAST — NOW AVAILABLE
Evangelism into the Muslim World of Southeast Asia
By Reverend Gary Hoban
I am pleased to announce the official publication of my new book, Beyond the Middle East: Evangelism into the Muslim World of Southeast Asia.
Throughout my years of ministry, I have witnessed both the challenges and extraordinary opportunities of sharing the Gospel in nations where Christianity is a minority faith.
Those experiences have reinforced my conviction that the Great Commission remains as urgent today as when Jesus first commanded His disciples to go into all the world.
Looking beyond familiar mission fields
When Christians think about evangelism among Muslim communities, their attention often turns immediately to the Middle East.
Yet Southeast Asia is home to some of the world’s largest Muslim populations.
Indonesia, Malaysia and other nations throughout the region present significant opportunities for prayer, evangelism, discipleship and Christian witness.
The Church must not overlook these nations.
Jesus declared:
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
The responsibility to proclaim the Gospel belongs to the whole Church.
Why I wrote this book
Beyond the Middle East examines the realities of Christian ministry among Muslim communities in Southeast Asia.
Drawing upon personal ministry experience, biblical teaching and an understanding of the region, I seek to encourage believers to approach this mission field with spiritual discernment, compassion, courage and an unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ.
Effective Christian witness requires more than enthusiasm.
It requires prayer, biblical understanding, cultural sensitivity, perseverance and dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
Our calling is not to condemn people because of their religious background. It is to demonstrate the love of Christ while faithfully proclaiming the truth of the Gospel.
Who should read this book?
I have written this book particularly for pastors, missionaries, intercessors, Christian leaders, Bible college students and believers who carry a burden for reaching the nations.
Whether you are preparing for overseas ministry or simply seeking to understand the spiritual needs of Southeast Asia, I pray that this book will challenge and encourage you.

A personal invitation
I believe the Church must recover a genuine burden for the nations.
We need believers who will pray, churches that will send, missionaries who will go and Christians who will faithfully support the proclamation of the Gospel.
My prayer is that Beyond the Middle East will contribute to that calling.
May the Lord use this book to strengthen His Church and encourage a new generation to carry the Gospel into Southeast Asia.
