Alone with God

2 Timothy 4:17 (NKJV)
The Lord Is Faithful

But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

Alone with God

Lonely. You may feel the word even as you read it. It’s an ache inside, almost to the point of physical sickness. Some understand the anguish of loneliness more than others. But there is One who understands it more acutely than any of us.

Testimonies of men and women in scripture like Job, Hagar, Moses, David, and Paul express the crushing weight of loneliness. But Jesus was separated from God as He hug on the cross for our sins. Though He was the one who needed to be strengthened in the hours leading up to His crucifixion, Jesus comforted the lonely disciples as they feared His imminent departure, saying, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14:1-2)

There is an answer!

We may feel lonely here on earth, but Jesus is preparing a place for us, and He will return to take us there if we have accepted His gift of salvation. Even now, we are not truly alone. The one who bore the loneliest moment in history promises, Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV).

Live in the assurance of His promise. See with eyes of faith the One who listens to your heartfelt cries and cares for you.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
