“Call Upon the Name of the Lord”
The same God that carried me and others, will carry you as well.
Whilst living here on earth, consider this: that our current living place is not our final destination.
Our final destination is with the Lord, where ever He dwells we will follow
God is saying call upon me and I will be there, to show you the way to get there.

Romans 10:8-13 (NKJV)
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Calling upon the name of the Lord is one of the great promises that runs throughout Scripture.
From Genesis to Revelation, God’s people are identified as those who call on Him in faith, worship, dependence, and prayer.
Calling on the Lord is not merely speaking His name—it is trusting Him, seeking Him, worshipping Him, and relying on Him completely.
Are you willing to do this.
Perhaps we have been weak in some points and now the Lord is asking you to call upon Him and overcome those weak points. What ever weak point we may consider.

1. Calling on the name of the Lord Began Early in the Bible
Genesis 4:25-26 (NKJV)
A New Son
25 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.” 26 And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD.
This marked a distinction between those who worshipped God and those who did not.
Genesis 12:7-9 (NKJV)
7 Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him. 8 And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD. 9 So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.
Calling upon God is connected with:
Worship
Fellowship
Dependence
Covenant relationship
God desires a people who know how to seek Him personally and continually.
Are you willing to do this.
No more delays on our part.

2. Call on the Lord in Every Circumstance.
God invites us to pray before trying every other solution.
Especially when we are sick and seeking medical advice.
In making big decisions like moving house to live, getting new jobs, marrying the right person in life, travelling overseas, seeking your close friends, choosing your business partners, seeking advice from people,
We tend to rely on our talent or what we have learned in the past.
This may feel reliable but it’s not solid enough like God’s response.
A. Call on the Lord when In Trouble
Psalms 50:15 (NKJV)
15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
B. Call on the Lord when In Fear
Psalms 18:1-3 (NKJV)
This was
A Psalm of King David the servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said:
1 I will love You, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
David called upon God during battles.
Are we doing that right now?
Or are we saying what will be will be and hoping for the best result.
Call upon the name of the Lord now.
C. Call on the Lord when In Distress
Psalms 116:1-4 (NKJV)
Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death
1 I love the LORD, because He has heard
My voice and my supplications.
2 Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.
3 The pains of death surrounded me,
And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me;
I found trouble and sorrow.
4 Then I called upon the name of the LORD:
“O LORD, I implore You, deliver my soul!”
The psalmist cried to the Lord and found deliverance.
Do you need deliverance from oppression?
The Lord wants to deliver us all from all sorts of affliction
D. Call on the Lord when In Need
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
We must Humble ourselves before the Lord and acknowledge we have made a mistake in our choices in life.
Remember this :
Prayer should be our first response, calling upon the name of the Lord and not our last resort.

3. Salvation Comes Through Calling on the Lord.
Joel 2:32 (NKJV)
32 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. (Delivered)
For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance,
As the LORD has said,
Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.
Peter quoted this on the Day of Pentecost.
Acts 2:21 (NKJV)
21 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the LORD
Shall be saved.’
“Everyone who calls on the Lord can be saved.”

This shows:
God’s grace is available to all.
Salvation is received by faith.
Jesus is Lord of all.

4. Believers Continue Calling on the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:2 (NKJV)
2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
Paul described Christians as those “who in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ.”
Calling on the Lord is not only how we begin the Christian life—it is how we continue it.
We call on Him:
Daily
In worship
In prayer
For wisdom
For strength
For guidance

Conclusion
God has always invited His people to call upon Him.
Jeremiah 33:2-3 (NKJV)
2 “Thus says the LORD who made it, the LORD who formed it to establish it (the LORD is His name): 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Psalms 145:18-20 (NKJV)
18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.
19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He also will hear their cry and save them.
20 The LORD preserves all who love Him,
But all the wicked He will destroy.
Closing Challenge
Ask yourself
Am I calling on the Lord daily?
Do I trust Him in every circumstance?
Have I truly called on Jesus for salvation?
Is prayer the foundation of my relationship with God?
God’s promise remains:
“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
May we be people who continually call upon the name of the Lord in faith, worship, and obedience.
