The right words

The right words
Job 42:7 (NKJV)

And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.

Imagine receiving direction to a friends house in the form of a hand drawn map, a mud map. You trust in the quickly drawn lines, following them to what you believe is the right destination, only to end up utterly lost. Had you consulted an authentic road map, or GPS, you might have seen that side road that your friend forgot to draw. What he believed was correct sent you in the wrong direction.

When we encourage and comfort our friends, we want to be very sure that we use the best map, the Word of God. When Job was suffering, his friends started out well in their efforts to comfort him, but when they began to rely on their own wisdom, they took a wrong turn.

The right words

Our encouragement must include wise biblical counsel, the truth that comes straight from the heart and mind of God. When we rely on human truth, we offer our friends a false road map that will send them in the wrong direction. There is only one truth. Encourage and comfort your friends today by using the truth found in God’s Word.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
