Back to series

Hey everyone and welcome to Refinery Life Church.

Today we begin a series on stewardship titled “What Giving Does For You.”

The Bible teaches the concept of stewardship, in which we are responsible to God for all that we are and have.

To truly be responsible, we must not only graciously receive, but we must generously give.

Today we are talking about What Giving Does For You.

Paul’s epistle to the Philippians has been called the epistle of joy.

He wrote from a prison cell to express his gratitude for their fellowship and partnership with him in the ministry of the gospel.

They had sent a gift to meet his needs, and this made it possible for him to concentrate on sharing the good news of God’s love even as a prisoner.

His bondage had served to advance the gospel I a difficult place.

Paul rejected any desire to receive a gift as such.

He was thinking more in terms of the benefit that giving brought to the hearts and lives of the givers.

Philippians 4:17 NKJV

17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.

Satan won a great victory when he set forth the idea that God was trying to impoverish us by teaching us to be givers.

The greatest need is our personal need to be givers.

Have you stopped to think about the benefits of being a generous giver to the point of giving above your tithe?
