Back to series

Hey everyone and welcome to Refinery Life Church.

This week we continue our series titled “The book of Colossians”

A devotional study of the Bible, chapter by chapter and verse by verse, has the potential for bringing great blessings into the lives of those who participate.

These messages from Colossians will take us from now through to the end of the year on Thursday nights.

Today we are talking about The Marks of Faithfulness.

The we list the characteristics that are desirable in a person, we usually mention faithfulness.

One of the desires Paul had for the Colossian Christians was faithfulness.

Paul had just drawn the picture of the cosmic significance of Christ and the world mission of Christianity in Colossians 1.

Now, with personal abandon, Paul, himself a part of this mission, applied his concern to the Colossians.

He said, “I want you to knowhow hard I am contending for you.”

“Contending” is a word from the athletic games meaning “struggling.”

This was not some general, vague concern.

It was specific.

It was aimed at some specific problem and some specific person.

Paul was concerned with the issues but more so with the people involved.

We see this in his prayer for faithfulness in the church.

In his prayer we can see some marks of faithfulness.
