Roll up your sleeves

Roll up your sleeves
Colossians 3:23 (NKJV)

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

The expression of someone having something up their sleeve refers to an old style Oriental hanging sleeve that was also used as a pocket. Hard working people can be spotted by their rolled up sleeves as they work through their day to accomplish their tasks.

Roll up your sleeves

Some how the idea of “working hard” as a Christian is lost an many believers, as if spiritual work should never be strenuous. Such a perspective might have drawn a stern correction from a hard worker like the apostle Paul. Not only did he set an example of giving one’s all in service Christ but he also exhorted his readers to follow his example. We are to work heartily and be “steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord”

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV)

Roll up your sleeves
