Rest And Refresh

Rest And Refresh
John 7:37 (NKJV)

The Promise of the Holy Spirit

37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

There were nuns, monks, and hermits known as the Desert Fathers and Desert Mothers. The movement began with Anthony the Great, who moved to the Middle Eastern Desert around AD 270, and thousands of others followed in his footsteps seeking spiritual purity, enlightenment, solitude, and perfection.

Their pattern of retreating contributed to todays practise of taking a retreat to refresh oneself spiritually. Fortunately, its not necessary to retreat to the desert or a mountain top, either temporarily or permanently, to find spiritual refreshment. Jesus said that if we would come to Him, for living water.

10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10 (NKJV)

Or for rest

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)

Rest And Refresh

We would find it in abundance. we can create that place of rest in a place of prayer or Bible study or meditation on God’s word, or worship, anywhere we can retreat from the cares and busyness of life. When we turn over those cares to God in prayer through Jesus, His peace will guard our heart and mind.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)

Rest And Refresh

If you can retreat to a serene spot in nature, great. If thats not possible, retreat with Jesus wherever you can. He will meet you there.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!

You’re important to God, and you’re important to us at When it comes to prayer, we believe that God wants to meet your needs and reveal His promises to you. So whatever you’re concerned about and need prayer for we want to be here for you! Or even if you just want to say Hi, you can contact us at
