Mercy

Mercy
Isaiah 55:7 (NKJV)

Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

God’s mercy extends to both our lesser shortcomings and our greatest sins. A theologian once put it this way, ” The mercy of Gos is as sufficient for the pardon of the greatest sins, as for the least, and that is because His mercy is infinite. That which is infinite is as much above what is great, as it is above what is small. So the mercy of God being infinite, it must be as sufficient for the pardon of all sin, as of one”.

If you fear you have sinned so greatly that God can’t forgive, you’re forgetting His limitless mercy. If you worry that you’ve outrun the boundaries of God’s grace, you’ve forgotten that all His attributes are as infinite and eternal as He is.

As we share the gospel with others, we will find some people so mired in guilt that they’ve decided God can’t forgive them. Mercy is God’s compassion for us, especially in His provision of Christ’s blood for our sins. Because of Jesus, He will abundantly pardon.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
