Having Ears To Hear
Acts 11:22-23 (NKJV)
Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. 23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.
Having Ears To Hear
Have you ever noticed that children sometimes seem to have selective hearing? Their parents can ask them to pick up their toys, brush their teeth, or finish their homework, but there is no response. either they aren’t listening or they didn’t want to do what was being asked of them. I know some adults like this too.
Fortunately, the congregation in Jerusalem didn’t have the same hearing problem. when the church members found out about the wonderful work happening in Antioch, they didn’t turn a deaf ear. They acted promptly and sent Barnabas there to build the believers and encourage them to remain true to God. This kind of support spurred on the believers in Antioch to carry on their mission.

Our churches can be like the one on Jerusalem by listening to what God is doing locally and around the world. We can then discern how we can be involved, in finances, prayer, or support, with those He is sending out. Let’s listen to what God is asking us to do.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
