God Knows You

Romans 8:29 (NKJV)

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Imagine a couple who have just learned they are expecting a child. They don’t know the baby’s gender, or future. All they know is that within nine months, they will give birth to a baby. Then they will resolve to guide their child’s development and shape his or her future as best they can.

While parents prepare to meet their child’s every need, their efforts are limited because they are still discovering how to best care for this new life. How different that is from our heavenly Father! God the Father knew you intimately before you were born. Even before you were conceived He knew the details of your life, the good, the bad, and the spiritual response of your heart.

But God’s foreknowledge isn’t passive information. It led Him to fix His love on you and light in you as His child even before you knew Him. When you made the decision for Him, He had already decided for you. The purpose of this decision is that you may be conformed to the image of Jesus. Let the loving Father shape you to look like His Son today.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
