The Word Becomes Flesh
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Once Adam and Eve had broken the heart of God with their fall into sin. God knew that there would be need to atone for their sins. Jesus’ birth accomplished that, for by sending Jesus to the world, He placed the Word, the devine Son of God, in the form of a man so that He could bring our salvation.
In Jesus we see both man and God. We relate to Him as a fellow human being, but we cannot forget that He is God. Proclaiming truth, He taught us how to live. Radiating grace, He showed us what it means to forgive. And as the only begotten of the Father, the unique Son of God, He came into our midst to show us that God planned for us to be with Him forever.
There is probably no better time than the Christmas season to envision the glory of God. Every Nativity scene, and all the twinkling lights are our attempts to capture the glory. But ultimately we must remember that Christmas represents God’s gracious plan of redemption.
I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
