Conquering Hero

Conquering Hero
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Modern day warriors rarely engage in hand to hand combat. Smart missiles, radar tracking, and high tech computers do a lot of the work that was once relegated to foot soldiers. However, when Isaiah prophesied that Christ would be called the Mighty God, we get the image of a powerful warrior, one who would defeat His enemies decisively one on one.

When Jesus appeared on the scene that first Christmas, He came as more than a frail infant in a manger. The eyes that beheld Him in the manger may not have recognised it, but Jesus came to earth as a warrior. Clothed in the tender flesh of a newborn, He nevertheless was prepared to war with evil, and vanquish the enemies of God. He would do it with the weapons of His warfare, love and peace, backed with the strength of forgiveness from an all powerful God.

Conquering Hero

As Christmas approaches draw on the strength that radiates from the manger. Jesus is our mighty God, and we can take up His unique weapons. Using forgiveness to dispel anger, love to drive away hate, and goodness to counter wickedness, we show the power and strength of God to love the world into accepting His gift of eternal life.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
