Road to Armageddon
Hi everyone
My name is Glenn Rowbotham and together with my wife Coralie and a most amazing team we pioneered and established the Elohim House of Prayer (Elhop) on Mount Carmel in Northern Israel, October 2017.
Elhop is a worshipping community from the ends of the earth (from Australia, New Zealand, Oceania ) and The Nations that contend for the prophetic destiny of Israel with a particular focus on the Jezreel Valley.
We do this through times of inspired worship and prayer and community blessing activities from our communal prayer houses on Mount Carmel and from our new location at Megiddo.
Our vision took shape in a large three story Mediterranean villa where we welcome worshippers, prophetic intercessors and watchmen from the nations who join us in a day and night rhythm of communal worship and prayer .
Our Elhop teams have also been providing regular volunteer support to local Messianic community blessing and outreach ministries run by our key partner on Mount Carmel, Kehilat haCarmel.
How did this all begin?
Whilst Mount Carmel, which is located in the north of Israel is an epic location the word that started this entire apostolic and prophetic adventure to Israel with love from the ends of the earth was a word given to me about Armageddon.
In 1983, as a very young believer the Lord spoke to me in His still small voice saying ‘ you will be there at Armageddon.’ Armageddon is the Hebrew transliteration for HaMegiddo. What do you do with a word like that? Well nothing is the answer except pray until in 2015 whilst on a prayer trip in Jerusalem my Armageddon word given all those years ago was unmistakably confirmed.
For context, Armageddon is mentioned only once in its typically futuristic context in the Bible in Revelation 16:14-16
For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.
Armageddon is not a fairy tale but is a real place located in the Jezreel Valley just east of Mount Carmel. According to the scriptures it is considered to be one of the most strategic and evocative end times locations. Many expect a major end times apocalyptic battle at Armageddon whilst others conclude that it will be a gathering place for the wicked kings of the earth on their march to Jerusalem. We will know for sure soon enough!
These days the Jezreel Valley has been transformed into a beautiful, fruitful fertile valley spanning some 35 kilometres in length and 15 kilometres in width. Today it is one of Israel’s major food producing areas where crops like wheat, barley and produce like corn, basil, asparagus and all kinds of fruits etc abound.
In 2021 our team began to get stirred to believe the Lord would have a place for us at Megiddo in the Jezreel Valley. Since then, our teams have been actively praying and travelling frequently to Megiddo on prophetic prayer assignments in search of the right location at Megiddo to establish a House of Prayer.
In January this year after long years of watching, waiting and praying we received the breakthrough when the Lord led us to the perfect house at Megiddo.
On April 1st we moved in and during this time, furniture and appliances have been bought and our new Megiddo house has become a home.
We have been warmly received by the local ‘Moshavniks’.
All the locals very curious to find out more about us – ‘what are we doing here in a secular Jewish agricultural community? why Megiddo? How did we get such a strong love for the Jezreel valley?’ are just some of the questions they have asked.
Although beautiful, this Moshav is definitely not a typical Christian tourist location.
This gives us many opportunities to share our story of love for Israel and our miracle call to this valley. This is a new pioneering venture. I am not sure whether there has ever been anyone here quite like us before?
It’s like a blank canvas. Space to paint but where do we start? What are your plans God? Do we have what it takes to be a blessing to the local community? Did God really call us here? Armageddon? These are just some of the questions, doubts and fears we have grappled with in this season.
In the short time we have been here we have established regular daily worship and prayer watch. Little by little we have seen the Lord moving in the hearts of all of us. We are building relationships with the locals in this spiritually dry valley and we have embarked upon more intensive Hebrew language learning. Hopefully, we will be able to share more meaningfully with the local native born Israelis very soon.
In being here at Megiddo, our hope over time is to establish a ‘one new man’ community of Jews and Christians from the nations who live and walk together side by side united as one.
Our community vision comprises several key elements as follows:
- A place to Watch, Worship and Pray
- A healing place especially for Trauma Healing
- A place for Community Blessing
- A place for Life Giving Community & Relationships
Looking forward, we would appreciate your prayers for our little House of Prayer pioneering venture. Please pray for the communities of the Jezreel Valley and Megiddo itself. With the rise in worldwide antisemitism and a war that has gone for nearly 3 years now Israelis are suffering greatly at this time. As Christians our love, our presence and our prayers mean a lot to them.
Finally, the Megiddo vision is an end times vision where we believe the Lord is up to something really big in positioning us here. Very soon the trickle will become a flood and your prayers and support will help us to to fulfil our call and vision.
