III. FULFILLING GOD’S PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE IN THESE END-TIMES
God has a very special and wonderful plan for your lives. If you want to embrace the plan of God for your life, the number one important thing you must do is, first cast away your ambition.
1) Cast Away Selfish Ambition
Number one, cast away, put away your own selfish ambitions. Put away all self-seeking purposes. Put away selfish desires. There must be 100% consecration. If you cannot give yourself 100%, then you don’t enter into the higher purposes and the destinies of God. You just stay behind and others will go before you because you are unwilling to cast away your self-serving life. There must be undivided loyalty to God and His purposes, just like one husband, one wife. The loyalty is not divided.
Love not your life, even unto death. The Lord Jesus is seeking for His Warrior Bride. He is casting His eyes upon His sons and daughters who will not love their lives even unto death, but will be willing to lay down their lives like what Stephen did for Him. He is looking for people who will be willing to say ‘Here am I Lord. I am willing to go wherever You want me to go. Here am I Lord, I’m willing to lay down my life, not counting the costs.’ ‘Whom shall I find?” The Lord Jesus asks us this question. May you get down on your face before God and say, “Lord, here am I. What is your will? Whatever you say, I will do.” You must have that attitude of heart.
2) Have a humble, servant heart
The servant heart is in anything, you count not your reputation. If you read Philippians 2:6-8, it says about the Lord Jesus Christ, “Though He was God, He count it not robbery to be equal with God but emptied Himself, emptied himself of all reputation and took upon Him the form of a man and became a servant.” So can you be like that – not seeking fame, not seeking name, not seeking to be known, recognised and admired as a great person, not seeking great titles and positions. Just be a servant, whether you are appreciated or not. It doesn’t bother you whether you are thanked or not, it should not bother you. If nobody pats you on your back, “Well done, sweetie,” it doesn’t matter. You just say, ‘It is my honour and joy to serve you.’ And you just walk away as if nothing happened. You do everything for the glory and joy of God. You must have that heart. That’s the second thing.
3) Implicit Obedience to the Lord
The third thing is implicit obedience, which means like a soldier. When their higher officer gives a command, they obey. They never ask the question, “Why?” You must have that attitude. That’s called implicit obedience. Whether your mind understands or not, it may be illogical, it doesn’t matter; you just obey – that’s implicit obedience.
The ways of God may sound foolish or illogical to our human mind but this is where obedience kicks in. You must have a heart to obey God. Whatever he tells you, whether it sounds logical to you or illogical, that doesn’t matter. What matters is obedience. That’s what matters – obeying what your master tells you to do. That’s what matters. Whether you do small thing or big thing, obedience.
May you write that in your heart – obedience.
4) Wait for God’s Appointed Time
There is a season and a perfect time for the fulfilment of God’s plan for your life. Till that time comes, you must be patient. You cannot hurry to help God perform it, which is what Jacob did and God has to break all his self-will and own strength. If you hurry, thinking that God is helpless and you must help God, then your call will suffer a premature death.
God has set a time in nature, not only for babies in the mother’s stomach, even for all creation, a time to be born, a time to die.
Doing a ministry is not necessarily doing the will of God.
Doing the will of God is more important than doing ministry.
Knowing the will of God and doing the will of God is more important than doing what you think is the ministry. In Matthew 7: 21- 23, Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works? And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!
A group of ministers come and stand before the Living God, and the Lord looks at them and says, ‘I do not know who you are. Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!’ And those ministers were very shocked! And they said, “What do you mean Lord? We performed signs and wonders in Your name, we prophesied in Your name, we cast out demons in Your name…” which means these group of ministers were either apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists, or teachers. They belong to any one of this group because they did all these things.
“We did all these things in Your Name, Lord.” And the Lord Jesus said “Go out from me you who did not do my Father’s will.” You do your ministry. You may have built churches. You may go to the whole world to preach the gospel. You may heal the sick. You may cast out demons. All that happened because God wanted to set the people free. God confirms His word. But if it is not according to God’s instruction and will for you, then God considers a worker of lawlessness. He does not put His seal of authority on you.
Seal of God’s Authority on a minister: his personal walk of love and obedience to God
The seal of authority on the minister is your personal walk with God. When you pray for the sick, because a sick needs a healing from God, God will stretch out his hand to heal the sick. That does not make the preacher a holy man. Even an unbelieving man can speak the word of healing or prayer healing and the sick will be healed. The Lord Jesus said, “Only they who do the will of my Father, they will enter into my kingdom.” So what is God’s will? That is important – God’s will for your life. What is God’s will for you? What is God’s will and work for you as a minister of God? That is most important: doing the will of God.
5) Our lives, both in character and power, should preach Christ
First, you must live a pure, godly and holy life. This is not about being perfect, but the world will look at our lifestyles. If you behave just like a non-believer, and then you are preaching that Jesus Christ is a good God and a holy God, they will make a comparison. How can this God that you preach be really good or holy if your life is unholy?
We are to be witnesses for Jesus
The Lord Jesus said, “You shall be witnesses unto Me.” Witnesses of what? Witnesses of what they have seen the Lord Jesus do. And the first thing that eyewitnesses do is to reproduce exactly what they have seen the Master do.
If you read in Acts 3, Peter and John go to the temple as was their custom on a Sabbath day. And at the Temple Beautiful, they saw a lame man begging for money. So many days, they were walking in and out, they’ve seen the lame man. As soon as the lame man saw Peter and John, as usual, he started begging them for money. And Peter looked at him and he said, “Silver and gold I have none. But such as I have…” Now look, pay attention to what Peter said. He did not say, “Okay, let me now pray for you. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Lord, please heal him. Poor man, Lord, suffering for so many years from the day he was born. Please, Lord, if it is Your will to heal him, heal him, Lord.” And then you open your eyes and you tell him, “Don’t worry, my dear son. In the sweet by and by, you’ll be well and whole,” and you walk away.
But look at what Peter and John did. They did not pray – this is the first point you must take note of. They did not pray for that man. Rather, Peter said, “Such as I have.” What does he have? He said, “I have, I give to you.” What does he have? Tell me, what does he have? THE POWER OF THE LIVING GOD. That’s what he has! The Lord Jesus told them, “Wait in Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on high. Wait. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive power.” That’s what the Lord Jesus said, “You will receive power! And you shall do the works that I do and greater works!”
So when the power of the Holy Spirit came upon them on the day of Pentecost, they remembered all these words that the Lord Jesus said. So Peter said, “Such as I have, I have the same power that I saw the Lord Jesus do.” For three and a half years, they saw what the Lord Jesus did. The Lord Jesus hardly prayed for anybody. He just looked at the blind man and said, “Go! Your faith has made you healed!” He looked at the dead man, He said, “Come out! Rise up!” That’s all He did. He commanded, not praying. They saw all that; so Peter says, “Such as I have, I give unto you. In Jesus’ name, get up!” And the Bible says, “And he leapt, singing, and jumping, and praising the Lord.” See, Peter was an eyewitness to the power of God. And being an eyewitness, he himself became a witness by performing that which he saw the Master do.
Message to everyone especially the young people: Consecrate Yourselves
The Lord is calling us to consecrate yourselves, to make a total consecration of your lives, that your old lifestyle you will want to put that to death during these days: your old pleasures, the old pleasures of the flesh, the old pleasures of your dreams, your ambitions and your old ungodly lifestyles.
1) Ungodly Relationships. Some of you have a relationship with boyfriends and girlfriends but those are ungodly relationships. Please cut them loose. Those relationships are ungodly and if you continue in them, you cannot be part of this army of God.
2) Lost Virginity. Some, especially some young teenage daughters, you’ve lost your virginity and you feel rotten and unclean within you. That you are not qualified. The counsel of the Lord is this. Your past sins, the Lord by His blood has cleansed you and made you whole. The Lord looks at you now as if you have not lost your virginity. So do not allow the devil to falsely condemn you and steal you of your rightful inheritance in the things of God.
3) Sexual Sins. And there are many who are given over to the harmful habit of pornography. Turn back from those wicked ways. Those are the things of Sodom and Gomorrah.
4) Defilement of the Eyes. Consecrate your eyes today. Like the Prophet Job when he says, “I make a covenant with my eyes that I will not look upon any lustful women.” If today you’ll make a covenant with the Lord that you will not willfully see pornographic movies or cast your eyes upon lustful things or look at the women lustfully or look at the men lustfully, if you can make that covenant and consecrate your eyes unto holiness, you will see the Lord God.
5) Defilement of the Hands. Look at your hands. Have these hands been used by the Lord for holiness? Or have you given these hands to do the things that the enemy has prompted, tested you to do? What have you used your hands for? Have you ever used your hands to do good, to be a blessing to the poor, to the underprivileged, to the depraved in the society? If not, consecrate those hands of yours today, and tell the Lord, “I will consecrate my hands.”
6) Defilement of the Feet. Look at your feet. Have they run to shed blood? Have they run in wicked ways? Have they run into houses of prostitution? Have they run into gambling dens? Have they run to shed evil and wickedness? Or have they run to do good, to publish good tidings of great joy to share the gospel to the lost and unsaved? What have your legs and feet done?”
7) Defilement of the Heart. Look at your heart. Has it become a consecrated temple of the living God? Or is it despicable house where evil dwells, where abomination dwells and reigns his head? Your heart should flow forth in all, purity of motives and desires, for mercy, kindness and justice. It should be holy for the Lord God to dwell within you and walk in you. But have you made it into a den of thieves?
8) Defilement of the Body. Now look at your bodies from your shoulder down, this body the temple of the Holy Ghost. Has it been consecrated to be holy, clean, or has it been defiled? Have you pierced your body, tattooed your body? Your body doesn’t belong to you. It is a temple of the Holy Ghost.”
Today, you must totally consecrate yourself – total consecration, totally hand over yourselves to the Living God – a total break from all your past!
OFFER YOUR BODIES AS A LIVING SACRIFICE TO THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL. Tell the Lord from now onwards, you will be a Bride unto the Lord. You will live a life of holiness unto the Lord, that you are dedicating your spirit, your soul and body as holiness unto the Lord. You offer yourselves as living sacrifice unto the Lord. You are no more going to live for your own selves. You say with all you heart, “Lord, let your will be done in me as it is recorded in heaven.” God has a will for you written in heaven. Let that will become your will on this earth!
