Alice Springs Prayer Assignment.

Pastor Sue Lavender.

Our team was given an assignment to go to Alice Springs to pray and intercede as part of our mandate to redeem the land (Australia) for the Lord. The team waited on the Lord for direction, and we headed to Alice Springs in late May to carry out the strategic prayer assignment that had been given.

The team consisted of an intercessory prayer group, including a seer and spiritual mappers.

God revealed the town of Alice Springs is shaped like the head of a horse or a bull, when viewed from the air looking down upon the town, a birds eye view.

Further research revealed that The Coat of Arms for Alice Springs includes a shield, which is quartered with a white border and a red heart in the centre, representing the town as the “Red Heart of the Centre of Australia”. In the first quarter is a camel standing in a field of earth and sky, referring to Afghan camel trains as the main means of transport in earlier times. The second quarter shows Mt Gillen, representing the location. The third quarter shows the overland telegraph line in black on white, and the fourth represents the importance of Aboriginal culture with a brown Aboriginal picture of a waterhole/meeting place. Above the crest of the shield is a rising sun, described as representing Alice’s place in the sun and consistent with its status as a leading solar city. The supports on either side of the shield are a horse and a bull. They stand on a branch of Sturt’s Desert Rose, the territory’s floral emblem. The motto “IN MEDIA STAT VIRTUS” is translated as “In the Centre Stands Strength”, and the name “ALICE SPRINGS TOWN COUNCIL” is also included on a ribbon above the arms.

The Coat of Arms reveals the symbols that Alice Springs is established on, keys that reveal deep meaning to the area. The team was given scriptures and prophetic acts to release at specific sites to deal with the strongholds and spiritual identities at given locations. The first locations we attended included Anzac Hill at dusk and the following day, The Alice Springs Telegraph Station. This is a significant historical site that marks the birthplace of the town in 1872, the telegraph station was a vital link in the Overland Telegraph Line, which connected Australia with the rest of the world by enabling fast communication between Adelaide and Darwin. We were also led to Alice Spring Hospital and Araluen Cultural Precinct, an Aboriginal Sacred Place, to pray, read scriptures and take holy communion.

It is a fact, Alice Springs lies in the Northern Territory and is in the Heart of Australia. We identified the significance of this, by revelation from the Holy Spirit, Alice Springs as a red heart in the middle of Australia, the coat of arms for Alice Springs also displaying the red heart in the centre of the shield.

With this in mind, we worshipped the Lord, and waited upon His presence, taking communion and declaring scripture, we prayed that Australia’s heartbeat will be in sync with God’s heartbeat.

And I will give them one heart [a new heart] and I will put a new spirit within them; and I will take the stony [unnaturally hardened] heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh [sensitive and responsive to the touch of their God], That they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances, and do them. And they shall be My people, and I will be their God.” Ezekiel 11:19-20 AMPC

Another location that was identified as an important site for prayer and prophetic actions is Ellery Creek Big Hole. A spectacular waterhole in the mighty Ellery Creek which cuts through a gorge in the West MacDonnell Ranges. Thousands of years of massive floods have carved out this waterhole and unlocked some amazing geology. It appears as a bottomless pit, and we were led to read scripture verses including Psalm 86:13 AMPC

‘For great is Your mercy and loving-kindness toward me (Alice Spring); and You have delivered me (Alice Spring) from the depths of Sheol [from the exceeding depths of affliction.’

The Lord led us and revealed and directed us through the intercessors and the seer’s visions as we carried out our assignment. There is so much more I could share with you of our on the ground experience and the incredible way the Lord directed us as we followed the plan He had given to us.
