There is something to be said about moving forward. God’s word encourages us to not look back but to fix our gaze on Him and keep pressing on. We are living in uncertain times, wars and rumours of more wars, chaos and corruption, and add to that, people are struggling with all kinds of challenges. We are all affected one way or another yet in all of this I have the words resonating within me, keep moving forward!
I find great encouragement in knowing that while I can’t control everything that is going on, I can look to God’s word for the hope I need in these times. Let me encourage you also, as I know we all need to stop for a moment, to pause, and remind ourselves God is all mighty, all powerful and not surprised by what is happening. In fact, He is very aware of it all, He sees and knows more than you and I.
Proverbs 4:25-27 says, “Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.”
Why is it so important for us to keep our eyes focused on what is before us? We are unable to change what has passed, we cannot do anything more about yesterday or any of the days that have already gone by. In fact, if we look behind, we are unable to move forward. We are to walk in obedience to what God is requiring of us, allowing Him to lay the path before us. In doing this our tomorrow’s can change in the blink of an eye. Let us be intentional in how we live, respond, be and do.
Isaiah 43:18-19 is a very familiar verse; “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Even God Himself goes before us and makes a way, He is our way maker, the One who can, against all odds turn all things around so we are able to walk on the path He has for us. It’s different for each one, therefore it’s important we hear what the Spirit is saying so we don’t lose sight of how He is directing our steps.
Psalm 32:8 encourages us; “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”
Is it any wonder when we read these words, we feel the peace of God rising up within us, causing us to lean into Him for He is our resting place, a safe fortress we can run into. All He requires is for us to take one step at a time, one day at a time, therefore fix your eyes upon Jesus, and keep moving forward.
It is His grace, His empowerment that enables us to live in these times and seasons we are in. God truly does love us and is with us; He is for us. Praise God, hallelujah!
