As we step into 2026, I write with both a burden and a fire in my spirit. I am reminded that in November 2025 the Lord spoke clearly that 2026 is a year of warfare.
There is a clear and unmistakable sense that we are entering a year marked by intensified spiritual warfare. This is not a time for passive Christianity or casual prayer. This is a defining season.
For those called to intercession, this year represents both a warning and an invitation: a warning that the battle is real and escalating, and an invitation to take our place on the front lines of prayer with renewed authority, clarity, and perseverance.
What we are witnessing across the nations is not merely political instability, economic uncertainty, or cultural upheaval. These are surface level manifestations of a much deeper spiritual conflict. There is a clash of kingdoms unfolding before us, the Kingdom of God advancing, and the kingdom of darkness resisting with increased aggression.
For intercessors, this is both a sobering reality and a divine invitation.
A Year of Escalation in the Spirit
There are moments in history where spiritual activity intensifies—where the battle lines become more defined and the stakes are heightened. I believe 2026 is one of those moments.
There is a clash of kingdoms underway, the kingdom of light advancing against the resistance of darkness.
We are seeing an acceleration of deception, a redefinition of truth, and a growing hostility toward righteousness. There is confusion in the world and, at times, even within the Church. But we must understand this clearly: confusion is not random, it is strategic. The enemy thrives in confusion, distortion, and distraction.
Yet in the midst of this escalation, God is also raising up a people who will not be shaken. He is calling forth intercessors who will see beyond the natural and engage with precision in the spirit.
Intercessors must understand that what is seen in the natural is often rooted in the unseen realm. The turbulence in societies is not random; it reflects deeper spiritual contention. The assignment of the intercessor is not to react to headlines, but to discern the spiritual currents beneath them and respond with strategic, Spirit led prayer.
This is not a year to be reactive. It is a year to be prophetic.
The Intercessor: Positioned for Battle
Intercessors are not bystanders in times of warfare, they are frontline participants. intercessors are not spectators. The Lord positions intercessors as watchmen, those who stand on the walls and discern what is coming, often before it manifests in the natural.
In this season, the role of the intercessor becomes even more critical.
You are called to stand in the gap.
You are called to contend for God’s purposes.
You are called to partner with heaven to shape outcomes on earth.
This is not symbolic language, it is spiritual reality.
There are battles that will be won or lost based on whether intercessors take their place.
A Call to Heightened Discernment
One of the primary weapons intercessors must carry in 2026 is discernment.
We are living in a time where voices are many, but truth is contested. Not every movement is of God. Not every open door is divine. Not every narrative reflects heaven’s perspective.
Discernment is not optional, it is essential.
This level of discernment is not gained through information, but through intimacy. It comes from time spent in the presence of God, where His voice becomes familiar and His heart becomes known.
Intercessors must learn to ask:
What is God saying in this moment?
What is the spiritual root behind what I am seeing?
How should I pray with precision?
Without discernment, we risk praying emotionally. With discernment, we pray strategically.
The Call to Persistent, Prevailing Prayer
If there is one word that defines intercession in a year of warfare, it is this: persistence.
This is not a season for light, occasional prayer. This is a season for pressing in prayer that pushes through resistance, prayer that refuses to quit, prayer that holds the line until breakthrough comes.
There will be moments in 2026 where answers seem delayed. Where opposition feels strong. Where breakthrough appears just out of reach.
In those moments, the temptation will be to withdraw.
But I urge you, do not step back when you are called to press forward.
Some breakthroughs in this season will only come through sustained intercession. There is a dimension of victory reserved for those who will not give up.
Walking in Authority, Not Fear
One of the greatest hindrances to effective intercession is not the power of the enemy, it is the hesitation of the believer.
Too many intercessors pray from a place of uncertainty, as though they are trying to convince God to act. But we must return to a foundational truth: we have been given authority through Christ.
You are not fighting for victory, you are enforcing it!
Warfare prayer is not about striving, it is about standing. It is about declaring what God has already spoken and aligning the earth with heaven’s decree.
Fear has no place in the life of an intercessor.
Yes, the battle is real, but so is the victory.
Key Battlefronts in 2026
As I have prayed into this year, several key areas of warfare have become clear. These are not the only areas, but they are significant battlegrounds where intercessors must focus.
1. The Battle for Truth
Truth is under assault in our generation. What was once considered foundational is now being questioned, redefined, and even rejected.
Intercessors must contend for truth to be revealed and established.
This means praying:
For deception to be exposed
For clarity to come to the confused
For boldness in those who carry truth
Truth is not just a concept, it is a person. And where truth is rejected, bondage increases. Where truth is restored, freedom follows.
2. The Battle for Nations
Nations are in a season of decision. Leadership choices, policy directions, and cultural shifts are shaping the future in profound ways.
Intercessors are called to stand in the gap for their nations.
Pray for:
Righteous leadership
Godly counsel in decision making
The disruption of ungodly agendas
Never underestimate the power of prayer to influence national destiny.
3. The Battle for the Next Generation
There is an aggressive targeting of young people in this hour, particularly around identity, purpose, and truth.
The enemy understands that if he can shape a generation, he can influence the future.
But God is also moving among the young with power.
Intercessors must:
Cover the next generation in prayer
Declare identity rooted in truth
Pray for awakening and bold faith
This generation is not lost, they are being contested.
4. The Battle Within the Church
Not all warfare is external. God is also refining His Church.
There is a reason our church is called The Refinery.
There is a call to holiness, to unity, and to a return to first love.
Intercessors must pray for:
Purity in the Church
Healing from division
A fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit
Revival is not just about growth, it is about transformation. There cannot be revival without reformation.
Strategic Keys for Intercessors
To navigate 2026 effectively, intercessors must be intentional in how they engage.
Build Consistent Prayer Rhythms
Develop daily patterns of prayer. Prioritise time with God. Create space for both personal and corporate intercession.
Pray the Word
God’s Word is the ultimate weapon. When you pray Scripture, you align yourself with His will and release His authority.
Stay Spirit-Led
Do not be driven by fear, news cycles, or emotional reactions. Be led by the Holy Spirit in what you pray and how you pray.
Pursue Unity
There is multiplied power in unified prayer. Seek out others and stand together in agreement.
Guard Your Heart
Warfare can be intense, but you are not called to carry it alone. Stay anchored in God’s peace and presence.
The Assurance of Victory
Let me be clear, this is a year of warfare, but it is also a year of victory.
God has not called us into battle without equipping us for triumph.
There will be moments of breakthrough that defy logic. There will be sudden shifts in situations that seemed immovable. There will be testimonies that can only be explained by the power of God responding to persistent prayer.
Do not measure this year by the intensity of the battle. Measure it by the faithfulness of God.
A Prophetic Charge to Intercessors
I believe the Lord is issuing a clear call in this hour:
“Rise up, My intercessors. Take your place on the wall. Do not be silent. Do not be passive. Do not be distracted. For I am moving, and I am looking for those who will partner with Me in this hour.”
This is not the time to shrink back.
This is the time to:
Pray with boldness
Stand with conviction
Discern with clarity
Persevere with faith
You have been called for such a time as this.
2026 is a year of warfare, but it is also a year of divine partnership, supernatural breakthrough, and strategic victory.
The question is not whether God will move.
The question is: will we respond?
Intercessors, the hour is upon us. Stand firm. Lift your voice. Engage the battle.
And watch as heaven responds.
