Islam And Christianity Are Incompatible.

If you are reading this, you probably don’t need to be told that Australia needs intercessors. I thank God for PIFA and honour those who lead us in interceding for Australia.

Hatred for Jews is palpable in our nation. The dreadful scenes as protesters hurled insults and screamed putrid slogans during the state visit by President Herzog left me wondering how long it might be before God does what He promised and curses us (Genesis 12:3).

In my opinion, government responses to the December 14 Bondi murders have been risible. It’s a case of too little, too late. Official responses by the Christian churches have lacked the force of biblical conviction.

It seems that our political leaders do not want to confront the truth: the Quran and the Bible make competing, not overlapping claims. Consequently, Islam and Christianity are incompatible.

It seems that the Christian churches, at least de facto, lean towards replacement theology. They believe that Christians replaced Jews in God’s overarching plan for human history following the ‘great divorce’ of AD70 when the Temple and Jerusalem were utterly destroyed by the Romans.

When Jeanette and I visited the Holocaust Museum in Sydney, a Jewish attendant repeated a piece of doggerel to us: ‘How odd of God to choose the Jew…but odder still are those who choose the Jewish God but hate the Jew.’ Many Jews are very wary of Christians.

As I write, there is much consternation about the joint attack on Iran by the United States and Israel. Whatever President Trump writes on Truth Social and whatever resolutions the United Nations passes, the truth is that the United States is blessing Israel by attacking an Islamic regime that is literally hellbent on destroying Israel as a nation and killing every Jew on Earth.

As former Prime Minister said in 1971, when he was President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions, ‘If the bell tolls for Israel, it won’t just toll for Israel, it will toll for all mankind.’ (He was, I think, borrowing from John Donne’s poem, ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’, written in 1624 during the plague.)

Australia has a recent history of opposing Israel. This opposition culminated in Australia officially recognising a Palestinian state. Most member nations of the United Nations supported recognition with the United States and a handful of small (almost exclusively Christian) nations opposing.

If ever there was a time to repent on behalf of our nation and to intercede for God’s mercy this is the time.

We need to repent on behalf of those who hate the Jews. We need to repent on behalf of the federal government for its recognition of a Palestinian state and promotion of a two-state solution to conflict in the Middle East. We need to repent on behalf of Christians who espouse replacement theology.

We need to intercede, entreating God for mercy on our nation. We need to intercede for our fellow Australians who are blinded to the biblical identity of Israel. We need to pray for their salvation and awakening to the truth. We need to intercede for Muslims who are sincere in their faith but are sincerely wrong about what is true. We need to intercede for those who think Christians have replaced the Jews

And we need to rejoice in the fact that we have been grafted into the vine that is Israel.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word.

When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer.

Theres nothing thats too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
