The Invitation Back to God’s Rhythm
A personal reflection
In my early thirties, I walked through a long and painful season of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My days were chaotic and often out of my control. My mind felt confused, my body deeply compromised, and the exhaustion seemed endless. But God…
But God, even in the midst of that storm, was shaping in me life-lessons that have become treasures I still hold dear. One of those lessons returned to me with surprising force in the early days of 2026 when our Pastor spoke on God as the Creator of Rhythmic Order. In that moment, my mind went back decades—to a book that became a cornerstone in my healing: The Rhythms of Life.
Re-reading it more than thirty years later, I sensed the gentle yet unmistakable voice of God calling me once again to submit to His rhythm, to step back into the flow of His timing, His pace, His seasons.
A Call to Selah
Do you hear His voice too—beckoning you to a Selah moment?
A Selah moment is that sacred pause… the moment you stop long enough to measure the rhythm, the thoughts, even the melody of your soul—and allow God to adjust it.
When we pause, we receive wisdom and understanding from the Lord.
When we measure, we reflect, examine, and consider our ways.
Where am I? What am I doing? Is my axe dull? Am I using more strength than I should because I have lost my sharp edge?
And then—change.
Change always requires faith, because unless we change, our future will simply repeat our past.
God doesn’t change. We are the ones invited to.
SELAH.
And so, I have agreed with the Lord that 2026 will be different for me.
How? By receiving His invitation back into His rhythm.
What This Looks Like for Me Practically
1. Recognising God’s Rhythmic Design
My life—your life—every life is shaped by rhythm: morning and evening, work and rest, sowing and harvesting. One of the most meaningful ways I protect that rhythm is by marking special days and seasons throughout the year. Celebrations, holy days, intentional pauses—these are not calendar fillers; they are soul anchors.
They remind me of who I am, what truly matters, and what God is forming within me. When I observe set times, I am not keeping tradition for tradition’s sake. I am stepping into a pattern God built into creation itself:
Recognising times and seasons as part of His design.
2. Receiving Rest — the Gift We Refuse, the Gift We Need
Real rest is not laziness.
Real rest is trust.
It is a spiritual discipline.
Rest is not merely relaxation—it is re-creation. It is a Selah moment in which my perspective shifts back into alignment with God’s heart.
When we slow down, our souls quiet enough to hear God clearly again. Our emotional and spiritual strength begins to rebuild. Clarity returns. Peace settles. We breathe again.
My Prayer for 2026
That we—together—will learn to stop, to remember, to repent, to rejoice, and to hope. That in recognising God’s times and seasons, a fresh wave of trust will wash over us. That we will learn to believe deeply that God is present not only in our moments of progress, but also—beautifully—in our pauses.
“He makes me lie down in green pastures…” — Psalm 23:2

Until next time
