It’s Time To Turn The Tables Over.

Right now, in the body of Christ, we see that we are in a season of accelerated exposure, where many big, well-known names are being exposed for being frauds, or even worse, wolves in sheep’s clothing. But what if I was to say to you that this also means God is looking at the tables that are in us?

And of course, I mean this as a metaphor—the metaphor of things that we have become distracted by, things that we have become deceived by, things that we have allowed to camp in our hearts which really are not glorifying to God.

Those things could be unforgiveness. If you’re carrying unforgiveness, then you are basically being set up for offence. Everything that happens to you that you think is unfair, or you think someone was maybe a little unkind to you, is really a place where offence can grow. So unforgiveness, if you like, is a table.

All tables have things that they’re supported by. So if you are camped at a table called offence, you’ve got to look underneath that table and see where there is unforgiveness. You’ve got to look at that table and see where you are holding grudges against people.

Matthew 21:12–14 (NIV): “Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves…

The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.”

Let the Lord—let the Holy Spirit—turn that table over and expose that hurt so that He can begin to cleanse and He can begin to heal.

We see in the body of Christ right now that there is so much hurt.

There has been straight-out abuse on occasions, and of course that comes with trauma. I think it’s really important that when we see that exposure has occurred, we ask God to heal and we ask God to look after all the people who were hurt. Absolutely.

But we also need to understand that Jesus died for the person who was even doing the fraud, who was even doing the wrong thing. And I don’t mean that we give this person a pass. I simply mean we need to understand that we shouldn’t be pointing any fingers, because the temple of the Holy Spirit is us right now.

And if we’re pointing fingers, if we’re judging people—even if they have done the wrong thing in the wrong way—we’ve got to be careful, because the Lord is coming back for a Bride without spot or wrinkle.

And so He’s looking for a Bride that is going to keep it all about Him, that is going to allow Him to turn over any tables inside of us that have become stumbling blocks, that have become things that cause us to continue to be distracted and deceived.

We’ve got to stay in the Word of God. We’ve got to stay as worshippers—pure worshippers in spirit and in truth. That’s the worshippers the Father loves. And that’s what keeps our lamps trimmed. And that’s what keeps our focus right.

Because we need to make sure that any tables inside of us that we have allowed ourselves to be camped by—such as offence, with unforgiveness as the root of that, and rejection—we need to look at those things.

We’ve also got to look at anything where we’ve become distracted by money. Money is something that we all need, but we should never serve the god of mammon.

You can’t have a table in your heart where you are thinking that money is the answer to all things. Money is not the answer to all things. He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider.

And that is really important, because I think a lot of churches and a lot of big names have fallen because they’ve become too distracted by money. It is a trap. It’s a big trap.

And of course, we need to understand that it’s not just the big names that can fall into sexual immorality. It’s not just the well-known names that can fall into sexual immorality. In the church today, there is so much exposure of people who have fallen into sexual immorality.

But even an unknown person—even a person who is not well known at all and has a ministry—can fall into sexual immorality. So we’ve got to be careful that we are not throwing out voices simply because they’ve fallen into sin. God may want to restore them. God might want to raise them up.

It is a big deal when someone is disqualified for ministry, and that’s a whole other topic. But we need to make sure there is no table of judgement within us where we are pointing fingers.

Our prayer should be for the restoration of anybody who has fallen by the wayside.

Look at the tables in us.

Jesus is turning over the tables. And when He does this, He exposes to cleanse, and He cleanses to heal.

Pastor Chris Boyes.
