Welcome to Refinery Life Australia.

The Lord’s Prayer.

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

This week we continue our study focusing on Paul’s letter to the Corinthians.

Today we are talking about The One Foundation.

Text

1 Corinthians 3:11 NKJV

11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Scripture Reading

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 NKJV

10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.

11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.

15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Prayer

In Jesus name we pray.

Amen.

Introduction

There has been a brainwashing taking place in the church, its called progressive christianity, and it is far from Christianity.

It hasn’t been done by torture, or starvation, or anything like that, but merely by manipulation to distort believers convictions and principles.

This weakness is due to a serious weakness in the churches character and to shortcomings in how people are discipled.

Christian’s with strong convictions are less likely to fall for this manipulation than new believer’s.

  1. Some people have superficial foundations or life.

Some people feel that being part of a church is a sufficient foundation.

This is good but only if Christ is Saviour.

Church membership has little meaning until you have repented of sin and believed on the Lord Jesus.

Then church membership becomes an aid to growth in salvation.

Lives built on superficial foundations are doomed in spite of appearances.

Jesus illustrated this in the closing words of the Sermon on the Mount.

We must face the unalterable fact that there is only one real foundation.

This foundation is Jesus Christ Himself.

It is not doctrine, theories, or systems, but Jesus of Nazareth.

Many people have built on Jesus as the foundation.

They have found solace from sorrow, liberation from prison, freedom from slavery, and salvation from sin.

2. What goes into the proper foundation?

The foundation is made from the rocks of sacrifice, suffering, and the death of Jesus.

In this suffering and death of Jesus, we find the expressions of divine love, mercy, and pardon.

It is at this point we find God’s remedy for human sin.

This foundation is tied together with the cement of God’s love.

This love will never let go in the midst of any kind of storm.

It grows stronger in the face of adversity.

This foundation is made solid in the very person of God.

The greatest fact of all history is God.

3. What is built on this foundation?

The first and most important structure is personal salvation.

Salvation means more than escape from torment.

For believers it means saved lives, joyous hearts, devoted service, and resurrected hopes.

The second structure that rests on this foundation is the church.

Jesus said “Upon this rock I will build my church.”

Christ died for His bride, the church.

We are not to take that lightly or neglect it.

The church is the apple of Christ’s eye.

We are to love and support it.

Conclusion.

Satan is trying to deceive you about the foundation on which you build your life as well as the kind of life you build.

Make sure you are building on the Solid Rock.

Until next time
