Welcome to Refinery Life Australia.

The Lord’s Prayer.

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

This week we start a new study focusing on Paul’s letter to the Corinthians.

Today we are talking about In All Things Enriched by Him.

Text

5 that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge,

Scripture Reading

1 Corinthians 1:1-9 NKJV

Greeting

1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Gifts at Corinth

4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus,

5 that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge,

6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,

7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayer

In Jesus name we pray.

Amen.

Introduction

The story is told of a tax collector who went to see a minister to determine the amount of tax the minister owed.

The minister replied to the tax collector that he was a rich man.

He said he was the possessor of a Saviour who earned for him everlasting life and who had prepared a place for him in the eternal city.

He also said he had a virtuous wife and that the Bible said her price was far above rubies.

He added to these possessions healthy and obedient children and a happy heart.

When the minister had told of his wealth, the official said, “You are a rich man, but fortunately for you, your property is not taxable.”

  1. The source of these riches is found in Jesus Christ.

The ESV translates our passage, “that in every way you were enriched in him.”

Every good gift that we receive comes through Christ.

God wants the best for His children.

God’s knowledges such that it covers all of your life and all the lives that you touch.

His power and presence are such that when His conditions are met, whatever happens will ultimately always be the very best.

God’s promises are riches for all.

Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

A pastor was having a difficult time in the church where he was serving.

Because of certain circumstances , he could expect no raise in his salary.

At just about that time, a car dealer came to the pastor and said, “I want to supply you a car at my company’s expense.”

The car far exceeded the rain ethe church would have given him.

2. The promise of these riches is that a person is enriched in everything.

Christ makes a difference in every facet of life.

He makes a difference in what we want.

Paul said in Philippians 4:11-12, Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Christ also makes a difference in what we do with what we have.

This enrichment is “in utterance, and in all knowledge.”

“All utterance” is the outward expression and “all knowledge” is the inward.

These apply to such areas as husband and wife relationships, parent and child relationships, and relationships with friends and acquaintances.

They also apply to our physical welfare, such as the blessings and privileges of health and the sufferings and sorrow of illness.

Enrichment is also applied to our economic life, which includes earnings and expenditures.

Most of all, enrichment applies to our spiritual life.

3. To have this enrichment, certain conditions must be met.

We must surrender all aspects of our life to our Lord Jesus Christ.

We must have an abiding faith in Jesus and His promises as set forth in God’s Word.

We must be obedient to God’s will after first determining what it is.

Conclusion.

For you and me to appreciate the riches of Christ in our lives, we must focus our attention on Him and His promises and not on ourselves.

Until next time
