An Odd Offering

An Odd Offering

Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you. Deuteronomy 16:17 (NKJV)

Sometimes people give strange offerings, Cars, shoes, watches, clothes, lottery tickets. Ive done it myself I have given cars away, sunglasses, clothes, all sorts of things. some of the more expensive items given as an offering could generate quite a few opinions in many churches. Most of us however would agree on this, the secret in sustained stewardship isn’t in things, but in lordship.

If Jesus is Lord of all…..and He is. He is Lord over our finances. He is Lord over our income and our spending. He is Lord over our financial involvement in His work. When we support ministries He lays on our hearts, we’re not really giving to those ministries. We’re giving to Him.

An Odd Offering

These are critical days for the Lords work and for His workers. In many places, progress is faltering due to lack of funds. Perhaps too many Christians are over spending on themselves when they should be economising for the Kingdom? The cause of Christ isn’t going to be advanced by people throwing God their small change and by living lavish lifestyles, but by the faithfulness of those who proclaim Him Lord of all.

Its time to be good stewards of what God has given us.
