Get off the bench

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Imagine paying $1000 or more for a ticket to the super bowl. You arrive at the stadium, brimming with excitement about the big game. everywhere around you, the pieces are in placer the big showdown, vendors selling food of every kind, the crowd is enthusiastic, and the television crews are prepped and waiting for kickoff. You anticipate victory for your team, and your wearing their colours to show your loyalty.
Get off the bench
The teams come out to the roar of wild cheers and complete their pregame rituals with confidence. Everything is ready for the contest to begin, but no-one takes the field. Both teams remain on the sidelines. The crowd begins to jeer and taunt, but the players remain seated.
The teams have prepared for this day. The athletes have all they need to go out endplay the biggest game of the year. But they are content to stay on the bench.
Think of your church as the super bowl. God wants to win a great victory in your community and in the world, but He needs you to become a dedicated and serious player first. Are you sitting on the bench? If so its time to stand up and get in the game.
