Luke 2:8-10 (NKJV)
Glory in the Highest
8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And [a]behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
The dark skies of that Middle Eastern night gave no hint of the explosion of light that was about to take place. As the watchful shepherds relaxed, the silence was interrupted with the occasional bleating of their flocks. An extraordinary God had chosen these shepherds on this night to observe His magnificent glory! God broke through simple circumstances with a fantastic display of unimaginable brilliance, direct from heaven.
If the thought had ever crossed your mind that you may be too insignificant, too poor, too unworthy to receive the gospel, think again. The Lord entrusted the lowly shepherds with the news of Christ. No matter your social standing, job, race, or role in life, you’ve heard the Good News because God wants you to know and to tell others.
I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
