Prince Of Peace
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
“His name will be called, Prince of Peace.”
Royal titles mean very little to many Australians. But in some parts of the world they signify the very privilege of birthright. By virtue of their parents and ancestors, royal people assume positions of power. It may be largely symbolic, but traditionally, royalty sets the rules.
Isaiah characterised the coming Messiah as Prince of Peace because of His birthright. As the Father’s Son, Jesus had the right to reign over the earth. While many nations have been burdened by tyrannical rule imposed by royalty, that’s not the case in God’s Kingdom!
Jesus’ birth and subsequent sacrificial death made it possible for us to have eternal life and to have peace with God. Because we put our trust in Him, we have peace now. In the future He will establish a lasting peace.
This Christmas, celebrate the birth of our Saviour and enjoy the rich blessing from the Prince of Peace.
