Two ears, One mouth

James 1:19-21 (NKJV)

Qualities Needed in Trials
19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Doers—Not Hearers Only
21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and [b]overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Two ears, One mouth

“Its better to keep silent and appear foolish that to open your mouth and remove all doubt” This saying as humorous as it may be also contains and element of truth. To be human is to want to be heard. It is said that on one occasion, a young man came to the great philosopher Socrates to be trained as an orator. In his first meeting with his teacher, he talked without stopping. When Socrates could get a word in, he said “Young man, I will have to charge you a double fee.” the young man said “a double fee? Why is that? I will have to teach you two sciences, first how to hold your tongue, and then how to use it”

The book of proverbs contains many references to the silence of the wise and the noisiness of the foolish. James reminds us that our readiness to understand is directly related to our deliberate reflections, not our immediate reactions.

I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!

You’re important to God, and you’re important to us at www.faithministries.com.au. When it comes to prayer, we believe that God wants to meet your needs and reveal His promises to you. So whatever you’re concerned about and need prayer for we want to be here for you! Or even if you just want to say Hi, you can contact us at www.faithministries.com.au/contact/

Until tomorrow

Blessings
